Suzuki Cars for Under $1000
Suzuki is a Japanese multinational corporation headquartered in Hamamatsu, Japan. The company specialty is that of making compact automobiles, a full range of motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATV’s), outboard marine engines, wheelchairs and a variety of other small internal combustion engines. Suzuki was founded in 1909 by Michio Suzuki who started the Suzuki Loom Works in the small seacoast village of Hamamatsu, Japan. The business built weaving looms for Japan’s silk industry Even though the weaving loom business was booming the owner realized that he needed to diversify and go into other business ventures in order to survive. Mr. Suzuki made several prototypes in 1937 of cars and they were powered by a then-innovative, liquid-cooled four stroke, four-cylinder engine. It featured a cast aluminum crankcase and gearbox. The production did come to a stop because of the start of World War II. At the end of the war Suzuki went back to making weaving looms at first. The United States did approve of the shipping of cotton to Japan which helped the Suzuki business for a short while.
Since Mr. Suzuki was faced with many challenges in the business he decided to go back to making motor vehicles. After the war the Japanese people were in great need of smaller vehicles for transportation and he realized that this was his niche in the market. In order to create a vehicle that would work he created a motorized bicycle called the “Power Free”. This was designed to be inexpensive and simple to build and maintain. This was such a success that the government offered Suzuki a financial subsidy to continue research in motorcycle engineering and so was born Suzuki Motor Corporation. The company soon started building motorcycles and then smaller automobiles.
