Saturn Cars for Under $1000
Saturn is an automobile manufacturer and marquee, established January 7, 1985 as a subsidiary of General Motors. This was General Motors response to the Japanese imports into the United States. They marketed themselves as a different kind of company and the effect worked on the American consumer. They were permitted to work for a while independently from its parent company with a plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. The first Saturn was released January 7, 1985 and the Saturn Corporation was officially founded. The brand was marketed as a “different kind of car company”. Saturn cars proved to be very popular amongst the consumers. Saturn results were mixed as the project was too ambitious as “everything at Saturn is new”. The car manufacturer started out as a new car, new plant, the workforce was new, and the dealer network process is new. The fact that it separated from the rest of GM and plus it drained $5 billion from other car projects by GM which caused some resentment.
Saturn opened up at a higher cost than the Japanese transplants and despite the emphasis on quality, 35-40 percent of the car’s plastic panels were sent back with defects. Saturn was still known for its no haggle price. The first Saturn model was very successful and the following year it hit the Canadian market. The Canadian market was just as successful as the American market so Saturn took its place with the other automakers. The Saturn’s first compact cross over SUV was introduced in 2002 MY as the Vue. Saturn has proven itself in the market place and many consumers like driving the Saturn.
