The name Mazda according to their website derives from their ancient God Ahura Mazda a god of the earliest civilizations in West Asia. This God was known as the God of wisdom, intelligence and harmony. Ahura Mazda is the Persian God named Zoroastrian. The website also states that the name derives from the company’s founder Jujiro Matsuda. Mazda Motor Corporation is a Japanese automotive manufacturer based in Fuchu, Aki District, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. Mazda is known to have produced 1.3 million vehicles for global sales with the majority of the vehicles being produced in the Japanese plants.
Mazda began as the Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd, Founded in 1920. The Toyo Kogyo Co. changed from manufacturing machine tools to vehicles with the introduction to the Mazda-Go in 1931. The company then had to switch gears and make weapons for the Japanese military throughout the Second World War. The company formally adopted its name Mazda in 1984 even though every automobile bore that name upon production. The Mazda R360 was introduced in 1960 followed by the Mazda Carol in 1962. The manufacturer has many vehicles in the United States and it has become a popular buy for the consumers. Mazda had financial problems and started declining in the 60’s causing them to get a new corporate investor. They found that investor in Ford Motor Company. When they partnered with the Ford Motor Company they began making trucks. This help the company tremendously as their smaller truck became a hit with the American public. This initiated the rise in their financial situation and helped the company to grow in the auto market.
