Kia Motors is a Korean Motor Company and the meaning of the word is “to arise to the world out of Asia” . The main headquarters is out of Seoul Korea and it’s owned by Hyundai Kia Automotive Group. In North America it is known as Kia Motors America. This is South Korea’s oldest car company founded June 9, 1944 as a manufacturer of steel tubing and bicycle parts by hand. In 1952 the company changed its name from Kyungsun Precision Industry to Kia Motors. In 1957 the company started to build motorcycles, then in 1962 they began building trucks and by 1974 where making cars. Kia started in a partnership with Ford Company making the Mazda which has become a very formable vehicle in the United States today. They also make the Kia Sedona van that many people use.
The company went through a bankruptcy period and had been bought out by the Korean government, then by the Hyundai Company. Finally, Kia America opened up its first plant in October 2006 as Kia Motors America. It broke ground in West Point, Georgia opening for business February 2010. Kia Motors America has become well known for its success on the American market building cars and vans for the American Consumer. The plant also provides parts that are easily obtained in case you might need to repair the vehicle. Today the company boasts of the quality of the product and the problems of the past are put behind the vehicle.
